How do Hope literacy teachers help the students understand a story they’ve read? By making comic strips!
In the picture above, a pair of Grade 2 Meekness students are reading a book they’ve chosen. T. Michelle paired the students and asked each pair to get a book and read the story. The pair should then discuss the story and complete their comic strip.
The comic strips are simply composed of boxes (Beginning, Middle, End) with spaces for drawings and sentences. Each pair of students should complete their own comic strip based on the story they read. This is how our Grade 2 students understand a story.
