Called to serve: HCHS inducts student officers for SY 26-27

Elected SCO and class officers for School Year 2026-2027 officially took their oath as student-leaders during the induction ceremony held at the Chiong Pai Hun Theater Hall last July 28.

Called to faithful service

Following an opening prayer and the singing of the National Anthem, former Student City Organization (SCO) Mayor Giullana David opens the ceremony with a heartfelt message. In a video, David shared some of the lessons she learned from being an SCO Mayor, emphasizing being faithful in the small things. Rooting her sharing in Luke 16: 10, David stressed that it is important to honor the small things, for they will add up to the bigger things God will give.

“I encourage you all to really have that mindset that ‘I will be faithful in everything that I do, even if it may seem very small,’ because there’s a reason why God gave that task to you. There’s a reason why God is entrusting you with those things,” David said.

Another lesson she shared was a practical tip for leaders: the importance of flexibility. In terms of planning, David noted, “A good plan is a seamless, [well-thought-out] plan, but an even better plan is one that is flexible.”

David closed with a reminder that leadership is not about power but about having a servant’s heart to help others.

Called to responsible leadership

Reflecting on her time in office as the SCO President last school year, Samantha San said that the trust a leader earns from peers comes with responsibility. With that, she reminded the student-leaders to serve with integrity, humility, compassion, and courage, and to become leaders who inspire through action.

“Always remember that your position is not about the title you hold, but about the difference you make,” SCO Ex-President Samantha San added.

Called and equipped to build

On behalf of the SCO, newly inducted President Cole Lexander Cua delivered a message to the student body. In his address, Cua admitted that he initially hesitated in running for office but eventually realized that he is not relying on his own strength because God put him in the position.

“He doesn’t just call us and leave us on our own. He provides the right resources and surrounds us with the right people… I trust that God equips those He calls.”

Cua also stated that the main goal of SCO for the school year is built on everyone’s active participation. They want to build a culture where everyone belongs, connecting the distinct communities formed at Hope.

“Let’s make this school year one where every single one of us has a place at the table,” he remarked.
