HCHS names the JHS completers for SY ‘25-’26

On May 5, Hope Christian High School witnessed the Moving Up Ceremony of Grade 10 Batch Aurion who completed the junior high school curriculum of the English and Chinese departments.

Delivering the keynote message, HCHS Alumnus Mr. David Ang defined what it means to move up. He shared that moving up is stepping into a new season where all the decisions the completers make begin to shape their future. Mr. Ang then enumerated the four Gs they should lean on in senior high school and beyond: good friends, good habits, good God, and give back. “If you bring with you these four Gs as you step into senior high school and beyond, I am confident that you will not only be competent students, but people and students of character,” he noted. He also left the students with a Bible verse they can live by: Romans 12:12.

Following the presentation of completion certificates, Iñigo De Guzman delivered the Message of Gratitude on behalf of the completers. In this address, he talked about how HCHS prepared him over the past 13 years. He thanked the HCHS community for guiding and supporting them throughout the years, which enabled them to reach their goals. He also encouraged his batchmates to continue working hard in their future endeavors. “Though this chapter of our lives is now nearing its end, I hope that all of us will continue to work hard in whatever we choose to do and go far,” De Guzman stressed.

Batch Aurion then graced the stage with their moving up songs. They performed the song “Our Love Always Remains,” penned by Shauna San and accompanied on the piano by Musi Lin. This was followed by their Chinese moving up song and Grade 10 Handbell Ringers’ last performance of “How Great Thou Art”.

The crowd became emotional as Batch Aurion presented their tokens of appreciation and gratitude for their parents. The completers also looked back on their junior high school journey through an audiovisual presentation, where they also commemorated their late batchmate. The emotional atmosphere lingered as School Principal Dr. Angeline Tan delivered her closing remarks. She shared how she is moved every time she witnesses the learners move up. She also honored the parents, school administrators, teachers, staff and the students for their contribution to their learning journey. Reiterating the keynote message, Dr. Tan also connected it to a Filipino proverb, “Ang di lumingon sa pinanggalingan ay hindi makakarating sa paroroonan.” She then encouraged the students to keep looking for what they want to do, and to love it once they found it, “Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition,” Dr. Tan said, citing Steve Jobs.
