ProQuest hosts a professional sharing session with HCHS
Ms. Sally Timbol, the Head of the Information Literacy Center of Elizabeth Seton School, introduced the ProQuest eLibrary to HCHS teachers and librarians in a sharing session held on October 23.
With the goal of strengthening the collaboration between the library and academic departments, Ms. Timbol talked about maximizing the ProQuest eLibrary for classroom integration and as a research database. She discussed using the eLibrary for Embedded Learning, where resources from the platform can be directly integrated through subject assignments and research units. She also shared that, as a research repository, the eLibrary offers subject databases that cover the sciences, humanities, and education, as well as newsstream databases such as The New York Times, Asian, Australian, and European newsstreams.
In addition to demonstrating how to access the platform and how to search and filter the articles more effectively, the speaker showcased other features and applications of the eLibrary. She introduced the built-in citation generator of the platform and its helpdesk that can offer on-demand research support.
The session then concluded with some practical tips from Ms. Timbol. She encouraged the teachers to use ProQuest creatively to boost student engagement. She recommended creating informative publication materials that feature eLibrary articles and designing gamified activities such as Mystery File source challenges and Blackout Poetry.
