Sports Fest 2025 – Elementary Edition

Sports Fest 2025 - Elementary Edition

A wave of white, red, blue, yellow and brown shirts flooded the Preschool Gym, as PYP students gathered for a half day of fun and action through the Elementary Sports Fest 2025.

Teamed up according to their batches, Grade 1 to Grade 5 students represented the following colors: white for Grade 1 Faith Flyers, red for Grade 2 Soaring Champions, blue for Grade 3 Mighty Warriors, yellow for Grade 4 Vigor, and brown for Grade 5 Luminaries. These colors marched as the students took over the center to perform their batch chants. Some of the chants were short. Some had familiar beats. Some had clapping of hands and stomping of feet. These young students memorized their chants and gave their best.

Excitement leveled up as the batch representatives were called for the torch-bearing ceremony. Assisted by their advisers, the students paraded the torch with smiles and pride. Two Student City Organization (SCO) officers, Ms. Imelda Comia and Ms. Edna Batalla also joined the ceremony. Then, SCO Adviser Mr. Andres Ilocto lit the sports fest grand torch.

The students’ energy was put to the test through the variety of games and activities they played with big smiles. In dodgeball, Grade 1 and 2 students were adorably aggressive in throwing balls at their opponents while actively dodging the attacks on them. A few threw the balls aimlessly, but most of them fired up on getting their opponents out of the game. They also had their own Kids’ Athletics. The students raced in a series of jumping, throwing, and running.

The tug of war is, undoubtedly, one of the highlights of the event. PYP teachers looked like Olympic coaches when they hyped up their students to pull the rope harder. Responding to such motivation, each batch truly gave all of their strength and showed their teamwork. Rounds of cheers were heard throughout the rounds of games. Hope’s future in basketball is also secured in the hands of the PYP students. It was a mesmerizing sight to see the confident movements of the players inside the court. A few might not fully understand the rules, but their actions showed a natural knack for the game. Meanwhile, in badminton, smash attempts and instinctive drives were made. As the shuttle flew back and forth, determination and delight flickered across the players’ faces. Beside the badminton court, the relay game took place. In this relay game, the students needed to transfer the spoon of water to the cup while coursing through the obstacle trail. The group whose cup contained the most water won.

The students also competed in battles of wits. They played games of chess, Scrabble, Snakes & Ladders, and Jenga. These games brought out focus, strategic thinking  and clever tactics from the students.

The students’ energy did not seem to fade even after hours of playing and cheering. The excitement kept going as the moment everyone was waiting for finally arrived: the recognition of their hard work. Like snacks awaiting an afternoon play, rewards are lined up for those who grind the champion way. The SCO awarded the top three players and teams for each game with medals. The top three batches also received their well-deserved trophies: Third Place for Grade 4 Vigor, Second Place for Grade 3 Mighty Warriors, and First Place for Grade 5 Luminaries.
