Little Ambassadors: Culture Fest Activity

Little Ambassadors: Culture Fest Activity

Welcome to our country!

That was the greeting heard from Grade 3 students as they persuaded teachers and fellow students to visit their booths. Through these booths, they introduced the national symbols, traditions, and culture of their chosen countries such as Korea, Japan, Pakistan, Spain, Russia, and the United States of America. This presentation is the culmination of their lessons in Literacy, Numeracy, Filipino, ICT, and Unit of Inquiry.

Like ambassadors who help promote tourism in their respective countries, the Grade 3 students show the same earnestness to promote the stickers they sell. These stickers display the countries’ national symbols, and earnings from these will serve as data for their graphing activity in Numeracy. To sell all of their stickers, the students thought of different marketing strategies. Some groups gave freebies when the customer reached a certain amount of purchase. Other groups used strategies like “Buy One, Get One Free” to get more revenues. According to the students, they knew about this strategy through discounts and sales offers they saw when they shopped at the mall. This shows that the students can use transfer skills to use concepts in different contexts.

Ambassadors do not just promote tourism; they also aid in humanitarian efforts. The Grade 3 students were able to embody this in their culminating activity. Proceeds from their stickers were all donated to the White Gift Drive.
