One of the events Hope students should await for this year is the grand celebration of the 65th anniversary of Hope Christian High School on December 17-18, 2011 with a dramatic musical entitled “A Time for Christmas” – a time for everyone to give love, as well as celebrating the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Last August 15-17, 2011, an audition for the production was held for all students. Ms. Trixy Chen and Mr. Steven Conde, who were the judges for the two-round audition.
“Our goal is to reach out and evangelize to the non-Christians that participated,” said Ms. Chen. “We intend to make this production memorable to Hope and its students.”
In the first round, the students were required to sing either a pop or a Broadway song. After the first round, majority of the students were qualified to continue through the second round.
Students that passed the first audition were called out of their classes to proceed to the music room with Ms. Chen. She then played a song on the piano and had each student sing the melody, with only “za” as the lyrics.
Students that passed the 2nd audition soon discovered that the “za” song was actually one of the songs in the production.
Not long after the auditions, selected students are seen practicing for the production after class. Music and stage rehearsals are held during Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
Ms. Chen concluded by saying that in this production, she is looking forward to the
commitment of the students and the support of the administration.
