Nick To Sharpen Hope In August

The Pre-school and elementary kids should prepare themselves for an exciting fun-filled day after a successful meeting was held at Hope Christian High School’s (HCHS) 3rd floor guest lounge with Nickelodeon Asia’s director Ruth Teodora, the new assistant principals, along with Mr. Jemmry Velasquez, and Ms. Laurice Ong, the supervisors in discussing a show for the students with Nick’s annual “Nick Takes Over Your School (NTOYS).” This August 19, students from ages five to 12 years old (pre-school to first year high school) will be pulled out from their classes at 8am, and will head straight to the pre-school gym for the NTOYS event.

With the theme of “Sharpen Your Mind,” the takeover’s purpose is to promote sportsmanship, team spirit, and physical challenge the fun way. “This takeover in 20 schools around the nation is for the kids who patronizes Nickelodeon, and that is why we are doing this in schools for free,” said Teodora. “It is one way for us to say thank you for our supporters.”---------- Teodora also added that the takeover is an alternative way to introduce the new shows of Nickelodeon to the children like the House of Anubis.

The slime module for this year, which is the highlight of the event, is a sharpener wherein a student will insert a giant pencil to trigger a button, and give the student a free slime bath - and not to mention free goodies, depending on the various sponsorships. According to Teodora, some sponsors will also have their own activity booths at the NTOYS event. The takeover will be hosting an approximate number of 10 games, and about 20 participants each – Big Time Hockey Rush, iRaise the Ratings, Cash in Trash, Dora’s Play Date, Diego to the Rescue, Fancy Transporter, HOA Mystery Box, Nose Nudger, True’s Fashion Noodles, and of course, the Nickelodeon Slime-zooka. To ensure the children’s safety, there will be field marshals in every game, ensuring that the kids will be free from any harm.

This year’s mascot is the most loved porous creature that lives in a pineapple, Spongebob Squarepants. He will be a “new student of the day” for HCHS. The NTOYS had already taken place in some schools around Metro Manila, in Pampanga, Cebu, and Cagayan de Oro for the past eight years.
