The entire Hope family composed of the faculty, co-workers, and administrators had their annual personnel’s retreat at the eighth floor of the new high school building last May 24-26, wherein they were reassured of their ministry and rededicated their all to God.
With the theme, Excellence 24/7, the retreat served as motivation for God’s faithful workers, as it paved an avenue for the different departments to bond as a team with one goal – that is to give their best for the Lord Jesus Christ. Through the team-building activity held on the first day, the workers realized that the all personnel must link together to uphold the school. Each one serves as a chain to bind and secure the students in their search of knowledge and Godly life. Moreover, being aware of one another’s strengths and weaknesses is essential because people have various personalities and ways of doing things.
Rev. Stephen Tan, the chaplain of Grace Christian College (GCC) was the guest speaker for the “UnliTalk” sessions where his first message focused on the personnel’s calling whether the passion of teaching was after God’s heart.
Meanwhile, the second session was centered on the dependency on each other. He used two Biblical references – the first comes from Ecclesiastes 4 which says that “People who live for themselves end up alone” and the second is Proverbs 18:24, “Too many friends can also be problematic because only a few friends stick closer than a brother.”
On the third session, the speaker tackled a topic which focused on our identity in Christ. He said that we are saved by grace through faith as we are God’s workmanship.
The topic on the last session was on “commitment” where he emphasized that it can only be achieved through a lot of sacrifice and hard work.
The retreat conclude with a charge led by Pastor Allen Lim and the entire Hope family signed on the tarpaulin their pledge of commitment to achieve excellence and 24/7 for the ministry they have been called for.
